Unipower now offers optional IEC versions of its new low profile MD and MF single and multi-output switching power supplies
In response to customer demand, West Sussex and Florida-based power supply manufacturer Unipower now offers optional IEC versions of its new low profile MD and MF, single and multi-output switching power supplies. Available as open frame, C option (with top cover), N option (full cover and two end-mounted fans) and now the IEC option offers full cover, two end-mounted fans plus integral IEC AC inlet socket and ON/OFF switch.

Unipower's M series switching power supplies feature one to four outputs at 250 watts and a single output at 400 watts, achieving a power density of up to 5.2 watts per cubic inch in one of the industry's slimmest cases, just 44mm high.
Even the units with integral fans preserve this slim height and will fit into the increasingly popular 1U high rack-mount format.
Key features include: active power factor correction to EN61000-3-2; universal input of 85 to 264VAC; Class B EMI input filter to EN55022; dual main output of 3.3 and 5VDC on four of the quad output models; floating output adjustable 5 to 25VDC on all multi-output models; independent 5V, 100mA supervisory output; and single-wire, active current sharing on the main, high current output.

The small size and low profile of Unipower's THIN-250 and THIN-400 M Series power supplies was achieved by reducing magnetic component count, extensive use of integrated circuits, simplified circuitry, and use of surface-mount technology throughout.
For the auxiliary outputs, synchronous switching regulators are employed instead of magamp regulators to reduce magnetic components.
The supply is fabricated, in Unipower's sophisticated Florida plant, on a single circuit board with one small, vertically-mounted, control card.
Surface-mount components are used in all low-power circuits and are automatically mounted by pick-and-place machines.
The primary circuit employs a forward converter switching at 175kHz with a horizontally-mounted high-frequency power transformer.
There are seven single output MD (250W) models and seven single output MF (400W) models with output voltage being set at 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24, 28 or 48V.
On the 10 multi-output models the main output is 3.3 or 5V with other outputs at 3.3, 5, 12, 15 and 5-25V adjustable.
