Artesyn's new 70 Watt AC/DC power supplies offer greater design flexibility

Artesyn Technologies has introduced the NLP70 series of open-frame, AC/DC power supplies. The 70W, triple-output NLP70 provides dual low-voltage outputs for powering logic and a single 12V output typically used to drive fans. The NLP70 features a universal input range with harmonic current correction in a compact, low-profile package.

By employing Dynamic Current Allocation, the NLP70 can provide up to 13A of output current on either the 5V or the 3.3V output, as long as the combined output does not exceed 15A.

This feature affords designers greater flexibility in their choice of logic and provides a migration path for future designs.

The NLP70 is ideally suited to networking applications that have a heavy logic content, such as access concentrators, midrange routers, LAN switches and shared media hubs, as well as fibre channel applications.

The NLP70 is power factor corrected to meet incoming European legislation, EN 61000-3-2; necessary for all products whose lifetime will extend beyond 2001.

It also complies with EN 55022 and FCC Part 15 radiated and conducted noise emissions standards with margin and is CE marked to meet the Low Voltage Directive (LVD).

With a 3 x 5.5 x 1.26-inch package, the NLP70 is compatible with most 1U applications.

It is a practical option for upgrading existing 3 x 5-inch 40W or 65W solutions.

The NLP70 provides a full 70W of output power with 20CFM of airflow or up to 52.5W of output power with free-air-convection cooling.

The NLP70 is available in a triple-output (3.3V, 5.0V and 12V) model.
