High-speed op amps draw only 1.25mA

New from Micrel Semiconductor, the MIC911 and MIC914 are high-speed low-power operation amplifiers capable of driving very high capacitance loads

Adding to Micrel's recently introduced family of high-speed low-power op amps, the two new devices offer one of the industry's best power/speed ratios. They require just 1.25mA of supply current and yet achieve 105 and 160MHz gain-bandwidth, respectively. The MIC911 is heavily compensated to ensure ease of use; the MIC914 is uncompensated, yet unity-gain stable.

They complement the recently announced 135MHz, MIC910 and the 200MHz, MIC912 op amps.

"All these devices are capable of driving very large capacitance loads.

In fact the more capacitance there is, the more stable they get", says Scott Brown, Linear and RF Business Unit Manager.

"We are now taking their unique topology and producing lower power, slightly lower speed parts with the same ability to drive unlimited load capacitance".

All devices are specified at supply voltages of +/-2.5 and +/-9V.

The DC specifications of the new devices are equal to, or better than the earlier devices.

For example, input offset voltage is 1mV (typical), large signal voltage gain is 80dB, PSRR is 88dB and CMRR is a very impressive 112dB.

The MIC911BM5 and MIC914BM5 are manufactured in SOT23-5 packaging.

Both are priced at $1.40 each in 1K quantities.
